Keuper is a high quality, smooth body with low flux content to improve glaze pick-up and enabling it to be used at higher temperatures.
This body takes on a deep red tone at 1180C / Cone 5.
Recommended firing range 1080-1230C (Cone 03-6)
Indicative texture 1 (Smooth 1-Coarse 10).
Reformulation/change of base clay: Previous Keuper users should test before use.
Please note that this clay is produced to a firm consistency.
Exercise caution when firing above Cone 6 or if reduction-firing, as the high oxide content makes this body prone to bloating.
