What we will cover
This course is designed to suit all levels. From complete beginners to those comfortable on the wheel. Our classes have no more than six people, ensuring that each student receives plenty of personal support in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Preparing clay / wedging
Which tools you need and how to use them
Throwing pots on the potter’s wheel, including basic shapes such as a cylinder and a bowl
Making handles
Using decorating slips
Sgraffito decorating
Trimming pots to refine the shape
Making foot rings
Applying glaze to your pieces

Week 1: Introduction to Handbuilding making small cups/mugs with pinching technique and bigger vases with coiling.
Week 2: Continue hand building Int roduction to the wheel Demo throwing (cylinders)
Week 3: Throwing, exploring different forms moving to bowls.
Week 4: Trimming, turning pots on the wheel and attaching handles/decorate with slip
Week 5: Wheel practicing candle holders/lemon squeezer /spoon rest
Week 6: Continuing practising making small vases and finish pieces to get ready for fi r ing
Week 7: Finish all pieces Discuss glaze ideas/glaze combinations
